On Wednesday we travelled to Neptune to play a Basketball tournament. We were split into two teams, team 1 and team 2. Both teams were in a group stage. If you topped your group you would play in a semi-final. In the first game team 2 beat Scoil Eoin 5-2 and team 1 beat blarney street 22-0. Next team 2 played Scoil Íosagáin, unfortunately they lost 12-0. On the other court, team 1 were playing Killavullen. After a great performance they came out on top winning 13-7. Team 2 played their last game against Scoil Na mBuachaillí and they were beaten 12-2 which meant they didn’t make it into the semi-final. If team 1 won their next game they would get into the semi-final. It was a tough game against Scoil Barra Naofa Monkstown but we won 8-2 and gort into the semi-final. Crosshaven then came up against Scoil Íosagáin which previously had beaten team 2. In the last few seconds of the match Scoil Íosagáin were up by 1 point with 12 seconds to go. Then Rory Deane got the ball in our side of the court threw it up to Senan Buckley who passed it on to Alex O’ Connell who was clear under the hoop and scored a last minute basket to take Crosshaven to the final. In the final we were playing St. Anthony’s BNS. We did well in the first quarter only letting in one basket. But we lost our composure until late into the 4th quarter. By that stage it was too late with the final score being 16-7 to St Anthony’s B.N.S. Well done to all boys involved and thanks to Coach Ashman for the coaching the last few weeks.
