We’ve been kept very busy here over the past few weeks in Scoil Chros tSeáin, and much of our time has been taken up with sport. A team from 6th class represented the school at a recent Spikeball tournament in Ballincollig and although  new to the sport, they did very well. The rest of sixth class headed off to Neptune Stadium this morning to participate in a basketball competition. The boys were beaten in their first game this morning but only improved as the day went on and followed that loss with a draw and then ended the day on a high note, winning their final game. Well done rang a sé!

We are delighted to have a GAA coach in the school once a week at the moment. He is working with all classes and coaches both hurling and football. The boys are really enjoying the sessions.

Fourth class have been playing a lot of hurling over the past few weeks and have been improving with each session. Ten boys travelled to Blackrock GAA Club yesterday to take part in the Sciath na Scol Fourth Class Indoor Blitz. The boys were well prepared and ready for action when they came up against Gaelscoil na Duglaise in their first game. This exciting encounter went to golden goal extra time with Gaelscoil na Duglaise snatching that vital goal just before time was up. Our boys battled on, however, and showed some super skill and immense hard work to meet Gaelscoil na Duglaise again in the final. Another fantastic game of hurling followed and the game was level 0-0 at half time. The boys from Scoil Chros tSeáin dug deep however and worked so hard in the second half to secure victory. The ten boys now go on to represent the school in the county semi final in a few weeks time. Keep up the good work boys!

A keen interest in chess has emerged in the senior classes since Mr.Lyons suggested we get a team going. The boys are beginning to learn the rules and practise the game. Watch this space to see how they get on.
